We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Manager in our Inverness office who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients that operate in a range of sectors, reporting directly to the Partners and Senior Managers. The position would involve accounts preparation work, as well as one-off assignments and special work, as required.
This is a client facing, fast paced role which includes advisory elements and often deals with high-net worth clients.
The work is varied and ranges from typical year end compliance through to ad-hoc advisory and project work. The client base is a mix of sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, limited liability partnerships, trusts and smaller private charities.
The role is permanent and would suit an ACCA/ACA qualified accountant who is seeking to consolidate their knowledge of accounts, compliance and trusts, and take it to the next level by building on their advisory, client management and supervisory skills.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing the accounts preparation process
- Managing and monitoring progress of work and budgets
- Ensuring all work is delivered on time and to a high standard
- Supervising and coaching qualified staff and trainees
- Liaison with tax team
- Opportunities to work on special assignments and projects
We provide regular technical training and soft skills development to help support your growth and progression.
The Office
The Inverness office is home to 5 partners and over 80 staff. The team cover all the major accounting and tax disciplines including accounts, audit and tax for companies, individuals, partnerships and trusts in the Highlands and across the UK.

The Team
The accounts and outsourcing department have experienced high growth in recent years and offer an exciting variety of work with great development opportunities.
The team currently consists of 20 members of staff of varying levels of experience and responsibility. You will have the opportunity to work closely with clients, working as part of the team alongside the partners, to deliver a high-quality service. Everyone in the team is provided with a high level of training and one to one support in order to help them achieve their personal career objectives.
You
- Preferably ICAS/ACA/ACCA qualified and a number of years’ experience of working in practice.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills, along with the ability to learn quickly.
- A good knowledge of Excel and Word is essential.
- Knowledge of Xero, Sage, Quickbooks as well as CCH Accounts Production is advantageous, but not essential as full training will be given.
- Self-motivated and pro-active, with the ability to organise your own workload.
- Display a flexible, professional approach and have the confidence and ability to communicate effectively with managers, partners and clients.
- Natural team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and excellent eye for detail.
