Accountant – Financial Control and Partnership Accounting (FCPA) – London

 

The role

Working as part of the Financial Control team, you will be an integral part of the Finance department’s office accounting function (supporting all UK offices).

Working under the day-to-day supervision of the Financial Control Manager, the Financial Control team provide accounting services to the business, including good governance, and monitoring risk and controls within the Finance Department.

 

The responsibilities

 

  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.    
  • Use of Emburse / Elite 3E.                                                                    
  • Supporting the Tax Enquiry Fee Protection (TEFP) process and process improvements.
  • Completing the TEFP monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Preparation of various monthly journals for posting with supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with and reviewing the coding of purchase ledger invoices before posting to purchase ledger.
  • Preparation of monthly property cost accruals, working alongside the Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis Manager to ensure accuracy. Accounting for leases, dilapidations and rent-free periods for the offices.
  • Posting of fixed asset additions, maintaining and reviewing the fixed asset schedules and reconciling the GL back to Xero fixed asset register.
  • Preparation and posting of monthly prepayments and submission to review by Assistant Manager FCPA.
  • Maintenance of GL codes, reviewing monthly overhead costs and correcting mis-posted transactions.
  • Ad-hoc analysis of management information e.g. assistance with completing ONS surveys and PSA return.
  • Raising sundry invoices in the finance system.
  • Maintenance of bank details for suppliers and staff expenses in the finance system.
  • Assisting with the annual audit process and tax schedules.
  • Supporting the Assistant Manager FCPA with ad hoc tasks.
  • Ongoing monitoring of risk and controls within the Finance department and reporting any breaches to the Head of Financial Control.
  • Provide support and cover for the FCPA team members and working closely with Financial Operations and Financial Planning Reporting and Analysis teams.

 

The team

The Finance department consists of 25 Finance professionals, operating across three specialist areas – Financial Control, Financial Operations and Financial Reporting. This role works under the day-to-day supervision of the Financial Control and Partnership Accounting Manager, ultimately reporting into the Head of Financial Control and Partnership Accounting.

You

  • Require accounting knowledge and skills acquired either through work experience or a relevant degree or equivalent.
  • High computer literacy and understanding of relevant software- Emburse / Elite 3E experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience within a professional services business or a partnership would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills, based on systems and models relevant to the field of work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with fee earners, partners and finance colleagues.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, with the confidence to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results to tight deadlines, especially during peak periods (e.g. financial month and year ends).
  • Collaborative team player, able to work effectively within a team to drive success.
