Description

The role

The PR Senior Manager is a new role and will have responsibility for managing and developing public relations strategies that promote the Saffery brand nationally, help drive business development objectives, and strengthen our reputation. This individual will be an outstanding communicator who is able to work with stakeholders at all levels, providing counsel, helping to manage risk and managing PR outreach and strategy on a day-to-day basis.

This role can be based in any of our UK offices.

The responsibilities

Media strategy

  • Develop and execute strategic media relations campaigns to enhance the firm's reputation and visibility in the trade, national and regional/local press,
  • Identify, pitch and secure media opportunities across service lines, sectors and all UK offices,
  • Working with a diverse range of stakeholders across the business to identify stories, commentary, opportunities and insights,
  • Monitor, analyse and make recommendations on PR coverage, and
  • Identifying, developing and supporting key media spokespeople for the firm’s various groups and practice areas.

Content creation

  • Draft and edit various communication materials such as press releases, articles, case studies/deals, blogs and award submissions, and
  • Manage approval process for all external PR content to ensure appropriate oversight.


Client/stakeholder management

  • Act as the key point of contact for media enquiries, coordinating responses and managing messaging,
  • Build and maintain relationships with key national, regional and trade journalists to secure meaningful coverage, aligned with objectives,
  • Serve as a key point of contact for senior leaders and partners within the firm, providing strategic counsel and aligning PR strategy with business objectives, 
  • Providing media training to senior stakeholders and key fee earners,
  • Working closely with digital and external marketing communication colleagues to help deliver integrated, multi-channel campaigns, and
  • Working alongside external PR agencies.

 

Issues management

  • Proactively manage and respond to potential issues or crises, working closely with the Head of Marketing and Marketing & Business Development Director, and 
  • Compile and update media relations crisis response playbook, in collaboration with senior stakeholders.

 

Reporting/monitoring

  • Monitor industry trends, editorial calendars and competitor activity, and
  • Track, analyse and report on PR activity and media metrics.

 

The team

We are a friendly, busy Marketing & Business Development Team, based across our offices throughout the UK. We support fee earner colleagues across our UK office network and overseas, providing an outstanding service to our internal clients. We offer support and advice on a wide range of activities relating to external marketing communications, internal communications and business development activities, and we support nine varied National Practice Groups via which the firm goes to market, from Private Wealth to Sports & Entertainment.

 

You

  • A minimum of five years’ experience managing media relations within a professional services organisation – ideally within the accountancy sector,
  • Experience of using media monitoring platforms to track, analyse and report to senior stakeholders,
  • Ideally, CIPR or CIM qualified,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • The ability to build long-lasting relationships and work collaboratively both internally and externally,
  • A proactive and positive attitude,
  • A meticulous eye for detail,
  • Strong IT and project management skills.
