Senior Manager Technical and Training – Maternity Cover - 12 month FTC

The role

This role supports the delivery of high-quality training at all levels from trainee to partner as well as accurate and detailed technical audit and financial reporting support to audit staff. We will require cover from approximately July 2026 for 12 months.

The person in this role is expected to undertake the following activities within the Technical & Training (Senior) Manager role:

    Lead the coordination of a firmwide technical training programme to both qualified and trainee members of staff ensuring consistency across offices
    Liaising with the Learning and Development team to monitor completion of CPD for qualified members of audit and accounts staff 
    Liaising with the Learning and Development team (and CPD provider, where applicable) to coordinate and facilitate training 
    Preparing and overseeing the development of audit and financial reporting technical training material for both the trainee development and CPD programmes 
    Delivery of training material and guidance where required (face to face and online)
    Lead the co-ordination and delivery of director/RI sessions
    Support the audit and accounts technical query helpdesk providing advice to client teams across UK GAAP, IFRS and audit
    Acting as a senior escalation point for more complex or judgemental technical queries
    Perform technical reviews of financial statements for listed and IFRS clients 
    Lead preparation for national events such as national audit conference and finance leader briefings 
    Lead firmwide technical and National Audit communications 
    Oversee the maintenance of the Audit and Accounts intranet sites 
    Planning, allocating, and delegating work across the team to ensure balanced workloads, timely delivery and appropriate use of staff skills and experience
    Providing line management oversight to the team, acting as the Technical team staff manager

Knowledge base – essential
•    Knowledge of and experience of UK GAAP and IFRS
•    Auditing standards and other related guidance
•    The FRC Ethical Standard
•    Companies Act 2006 
•    Excellent IT skills in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Knowledge base – desirable
•    Listed company reporting requirements
•    Knowledge of LLPs, Charities and Pension schemes
•    Familiar with accounts and audit software (CCH preferably)

You
    Chartered professional or equivalent.
    Experience of supervising colleagues, providing technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with policy and procedure.
    Experience within area to handle most situations without supervision and provide advice and guidance to others.
    Experience of interpreting policy and developing procedures/systems.
    Ability to analyse and interpret complex information/data and understand the impact on their discipline and wider firm.
    Able to establish and maintain strong and credible working relationships, influence others and may be required to motivate a team.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including communicating with technical and non-technical clients and staff at all organisational levels.
    High levels of commitment and ability to act when necessary.
    Strong presentation skills and ability to be persuasive.
    Able to use judgement / experience to tackle issues and seek advice on more complex problems.
    Strong analytical skills, based on systems and models relevant to the field of work.
    Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
    Provides direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done effectively and efficiently.
