The role
Our evolving transfer pricing team is looking for an experienced Transfer Pricing manager to further expand our transfer pricing service line offering.

Ideally you will have a solid foundation of providing transfer pricing advice across a variety of industries and sectors but have a specialism in financial transactions and asset management.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, friendly team and to develop this role and our client base further.  

The role has arisen due to growth – an increasing demand for transfer pricing services from our growing portfolio of international entrepreneurial clients requiring transfer pricing solutions for financial transactions and our expanding client base of asset managers.  Additionally, you should have practical experience in advising on the UK’s transfer pricing legislation for debt and HMRC’s guidance on thin capitalisation, agreement of ATCAs and a sound knowledge of the UK’s Corporate Interest Restriction legislation. Candidates who also have a broad knowledge of international corporate tax principles will find this a rewarding role.

The responsibilities

  • Work with the team and the transfer pricing director to deliver (mainly) transfer pricing advice and transfer pricing documentation projects,
  • Work with the transfer pricing director and tax partners to grow our transfer pricing service line offering in asset management and financial transactions, being jointly engaged in building our pipeline of opportunities,
  • Assist with proposals, budgets and developing new work streams for transfer pricing both internally and externally,
  • Proactively manage the delivery of transfer pricing solutions in respect of asset management and financial transactions to our client base, including multi-territory projects, 
  • Work with the team and clients to understand the commercial aspects of the client,
  • Proactively manage the projects to meet internal and external deadlines,
  • Train, coach and develop the junior members of the transfer pricing team,
  • Build internal and external networks,
  • Lead on the financial management of your portfolio,
  • Work with a network of specialists worldwide across our international network. 

The team

Our transfer pricing team is led by our transfer pricing director who developed the team and reports into our international tax partner. The team is a national resource and services the Saffery offices nationally. The team is based in multiple locations but meets in person regularly.  It is a small but growing team with its members spending all of their time on marketing, tendering and delivering transfer pricing projects as well as being involved in relevant international tax aspects of our transfer pricing client base. 

You should

  • Have a broad practical experience delivering transfer pricing solutions to your client base and a background in international taxation.
  • Be a self starter and a problem solver,
  • Have a curious mind,
  • Enjoy technical challenges and learning,
  • Have an ability to assist in the development of creative and robust transfer pricing solutions,
  • Be able to flex your advice in a client scenario to the size of the client,
  • Be able to see the bigger picture around the client’s commercial fact pattern,
  • Have excellent and proactive project management skills and a track record for finishing projects in a timely manner,
  • Support partners and directors with aspects of leadership,
  • Proactively develop internal and external relationships and demonstrate successful networking in previous roles,
  • Manage and deliver projects to the transfer pricing director for sign off,
  • Meet all key client and internal deadlines. You should be a finisher,
  • Develop your projects from the proposal stage, with assistance from the team, managing them to budget,
  • Have a broad general international tax background, as well as a robust foundation and experience in transfer pricing for asset managers and financial transactions, 
  • Have excellent written English and verbal communication skills,
  • Be experienced in developing and growing junior staff,
  • Should be educated to degree level or equivalent, hold either ACA/CTA/ADIT/law qualification or international equivalents

  • A 35 hour working week with a hybrid working policy with the flexibility to work from home for up to three days per week depending on business needs (our core hours are 10-4)
